This will be a busy weekend on the national mall, as the Library of Congress’s National Book Festival and the Smithsonian’s Symposium on Sufism will be in full-swing. Both events will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23, 2012. Highlights of the Book Festival are author readings and book signings by such notables as Sandra Cisneros, R.L. Stine, and Bob Woodward (see the authors’ page for times and tent locations). And at the Sufism Symposium, which will be held at the National Museum of the American Indian, watch live whirling dervishes on Saturday at noon (see here for Saturday’s and Sunday’s schedules).
Both events are free and open to the public. Metro is the best way to get to the mall: exit at either the Archives or Smithsonian stops.
